Scope

Succession Planning

The Challenge

Our client, a leading global advanced manufacturing group, head-quartered in France, needed to appoint a new Chief Human Resources Officer, as the current CHRO was due to retire.

There was an internal succession plan in place, but the CEO wanted to benchmark the internal candidates against strong HR leadership profiles from the external market, that reflected the diverse nature of the international footprint of the group.

It was important that candidates had strategic HR experience gained in international, unionised, advanced manufacturing, industrial and hi-tech environments of scale, with a level of complexity in both their operations and stakeholder management requirements.

This was a critical hire to lead a culture change and transformation across the group.

Our Solution

An Executive Talent Acquisition was proposed to target senior HR Leaders with strategic experience, in advanced manufacturing, automotive, defence, hi-tec, natural resources, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors.

Parkhouse Bell’s team of Talent Research experts completed a comprehensive Talent Mapping process, to provide an evidence-based view of the strongest profiles across the market and insight on experience levels and diversity ratios for this talent cohort.

The profiles identified were professionally approached, assessed and candidates pipelined for consideration.

The Outcome

We presented a long-list of 9 highly qualified candidates from across the relevant sectors.

Talent Mapping and Insight reports were submitted to show that the strongest available candidates had been delivered.

A short-list of 4 candidates were invited to interview, alongside internal candidates.

An external candidate was chosen to become the next CHRO  and a successful placement was made.

The appointment represented the first external appointment straight to the executive committee, and also the first female executive to join the leadership team.

The fees for this Executive Talent Acquisition service represent approximately one third of the fee level of traditional Executive Search.
